In-person visits are suspended due to Covid-19; we’re happy to schedule virtual visits!

We encourage all students interested in majoring in Meteorology at OU to visit us. We are happy to meet with students at any time, but certain times of year (Final Exams, holiday weeks, etc.) may be more difficult to schedule. We encourage students to schedule their visits 2 weeks ahead of time. Visits may be scheduled by clicking here.

What may be the best time of year for high school students to visit is during our Summer Met Days. These are all-day events in which prospective students can meet faculty members, current students, learn about admission into the School, tour the National Weather Center, etc. More information can be found here.

Scheduling beforehand will ensure the best possible experience. Please know that campus tours, National Weather Center tours, and departmental visits are separate events requiring individual confirmations. We appreciate your cooperation with our security parameters.

  • Campus tours: The best way to encounter the Sooner tradition and to learn about all that the University as a whole has to offer is to visit our beautiful campus in Norman, Oklahoma. During your visit, you will have the opportunity to meet current OU students, see our facilities and experience the OU community and spirit. Campus tours are offered Monday-Friday at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. or Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Please call (405) 325-2151 or (800) 234-6868 or schedule a tour online. (more information)
  • NWC tours: Tours of the National Weather Center for the general public are offered on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 1 p.m. Each tour lasts approximately 1 to 1.5 hours. The Public tour is a comprehensive overview of the NWC and the units housed within. Please Note: All tours require a reservation due to scheduling and security issues. You can schedule a tour online or call (405) 325-1147.
  • Meteorology curriculum: School of Meteorology personnel are typically available to meet with prospective students each week on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday at times arranged around the National Weather Center tours. You must make an appointment to meet with someone from the School of Meteorology.
