Jason Furtado Named Winner of 2018 Editor’s Citation for Excellence

Dr. Jason Furtado will receive the 2018 Editor’s Citation for Excellence in Refereeing for Geophysical Research Letters.

Jason Furtado is a member of the American Geophysical Union (AGU), an organization composed of Earth and space scientists with a mission to further research through scientific journals.

As their mission states: AGU is built on a foundation of shared values that include valuing the scientific method, the generation and dissemination of scientific knowledge, free exchange of ideas and information, respect for a diversity of ideas and approaches, accountability to the public, and excellence and integrity in everything we do. Our science is accurate, peer reviewed, and well respected.

One of the most important services performed for AGU is the conscientious reviewing of submitted papers. Because of the nature of the reviewing process, this service is also one of the least recognized. Jason Furtado’s reviews have been particularly commendable. His contributions to the journals program have been invaluable in maintaining a high-quality standard.
