Information Technologist III (Boyd Science Center IT Technician)
Information Technology Services at Plymouth State University is seeking an Information Technologist III for their Technology Services team. This position requires an individual who is capable of managing multiple priorities in a busy environment. The candidate selected must be a self-directed, pro-active problem solver with highly developed analytical and critical thinking skills. In addition, the selected candidate must be someone who can work collaboratively within a team structure using strong and positive interpersonal skills to provide superior customer service.
This position provides server and application administration for the Boyd Science Center (BSC); Website design and management for discipline specific web services; Manage, install, and maintain scientific equipment associated with BSC programs of study; Manage processes and data feeds used to support BSC needs and operations. Provide IT consulting for faculty, staff and students in the Boyd Science Center.
You will fit this description if you possess the following required qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience in information technology field, Associate’s and five years, or combination of education and experience equal to seven years.
A commitment to serving the needs of faculty and students to facilitate use of technology in support of the Sciences. Demonstrated ability to rapidly learn and understand new high technology products and services.
In depth knowledge of customer service, including concepts and techniques, in a technical support environment Strong knowledge of Server and Client Operating Systems and their support needs.
Valid Driver’s license, personal transportation and a willingness to travel and work nights/weekends are required. Strong communication skills (Written and Verbal).
Additionally, we are seeking candidates who have:
Scientific instrumentation (e.g. Meteorology, Chemistry, Biology, and Environmental). Server management/System Administration (Linux).
Developing of Web Content. Data management.
Demonstrated Scripting experience (e.g.: Perl, PHP, Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Compiling and configuring software packages under Linux (e.g. Unidata Local Data Manager (LDM), McIDAS, and GEMPAK software packages).
Working in an academic environment.
