PhD Graduate Research Assistantship

1 PhD Graduate Research Assistantship (3 years) at Institute for
Geosciences and Meteorology , University of Bonn

Within the Research Unit “New Refined Observations of Climate Change
from Spaceborne Gravity Missions (NEROGRAV)”, the following projectis open:

High-resolution atmospheric-hydrological background modelling for
GRACE/GRACE-FO – regional refinement and validation

The project aims at the generation of a consistent global data set of
atmospheric and hydrological mass variation with fine temporal and
spatial resolution over Europe from the GRACE and GRACE-FO satellite
missions. The project focuses on improving the under-standing of
atmospheric mass redistribution and the errors of model simulations,
and investigate the sub-monthly variability in the terrestrial and
atmospheric hydrological cycles.

We expect strong interest in the following fields:
– hydrological and atmospheric sciences
– statistical-dynamical modelling
– interdisciplinarity, e.g. geodesy, satellite gravimetry and geophysics

Potential candidates with expertise in hydrological and/or atmospheric
modeling and/or statistical-dynamical modelling are encouraged to apply.
Experience in FORTRAN, C, Python and R statistical programming is highly
desirable. We offer a competitive position (75% TV‐L E13, 36 month),
excellent benefits, a productive, interdisciplinary working atmosphere
including comprehensive supervision.

Interested candidates should send a complete application package (CV;
cover letter describing background, training and research interests;
certificates; contact information of two references) as a single PDF to
