Postdoctoral Fellow

National University of Singapore

The Climate and Weather research cluster of the Tropical Marine Science Institute at the National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of a Postdoctoral Fellow (graduating/graduated PhD with 1 or 2 years’ experience) in the area of atmospheric science/dynamics with familiarity of the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. The candidate is expected to have a sound knowledge of tropical meteorology and numerical modelling/programming skills. The postdoctoral fellow will bring knowledge in atmospheric modelling and in atmospheric dynamics, specifically moist convection and convective systems. Currently, the cluster works on several aspects of numerical modelling that include numerical weather prediction, seasonal forecasting and climate downscaling using the WRF model. The candidate is expected to contribute to research in the area of weather and climate modelling on a range of spatial scales from regional through to urban.  The candidate should possess sound knowledge of the atmospheric dynamics of the tropics (and the maritime continent) to work on synoptic scale modelling while also working on sub-regional and urban scales of weather/climate modeling.Job Requirements:1. A PhD in Climate/Atmospheric Sciences

2. Good knowledge of tropical meteorology and atmospheric dynamics

3. Experience in numerical modeling using weather/climate models (WRF)

4. Experience with HPC platforms/shell scripting

5. Expertise in programming languages such as NCL, GrADS, Python, MATLABPlease send a CV to: Dr Srivatsan V Raghavan, Head and Principal ResearchFellow, Climate and Weather research.  tmsvs@nus.edu.sg
