Postdoctoral Scientist – Convection and Interactions with the Environments

PNNL is recruiting a postdoctoral scientist on research to improve
understanding of convection and its large-scale environment. The
successful candidate will perform modeling and analysis of mesoscale
convective systems (MCSs) using regional or global models and
observation and reanalysis data to understand MCSs and their
interactions with large-scale circulation and land surface processes.
Working with PNNL scientists, the candidate will design and perform
numerical experiments to understand the variability and changes of MCSs
and the implications to the regional and global water cycle.

The position is for two years and renewable contingent upon performance.
A Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or related subjects is required.
Familiarity with atmosphere and climate models, observational data, and
analysis and diagnostics of model simulations, and a strong
understanding of convection and its large-scale context will be
considered favorably during the evaluation.

Applications should include the following in a single package:

Cover letter describing the applicant’s research experience and interests.

Curriculum vitae with a list of publications in refereed journals.

Names and addresses of three references.

Applications can be submitted through <https://jobs.pnnl.gov>  (search for
job ID 308808), which will be opened through February 28, 2019.
