Provides climate services by responding to day-to-day requests for climate data. Manages the High Plains Regional Climate Center’s (HPRCC) invoicing system for billing of climate services. Tracks incoming requests and user needs. Prepares monthly and annual climate summaries, as well as weekly drought updates, for the High Plains region. Develops appropriate content to communicate through the HPRCC’s social media outlets. Assists with additional tasks as needed, such as outreach activities, the identification and correction of data issues, the preparation of quarterly regional climate summaries, participation in pertinent conference calls, and special projects.


Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in atmospheric science or closely related field. One year of experience with customer service/client interactions. Knowledge of weather and climate data sets. Knowledge of climate products and their applicability in decision-making. Experience must demonstrate: excellent computer skills for word processing, spreadsheets, and data management; excellent verbal and written communications skills in order to interact with clients and partners and write climate summaries for the general public.


Preferred qualifications: Experience working with, managing, or providing climate data/information to others. Knowledge of High Plains climate. Knowledge of statistics. Ability to use ArcGIS.
