Two Climate Science Research Assistantships Available at Kent State University

The Department of Geography at Kent State University seeks two graduate
students (at either the Master’s or Ph.D. level) to work as Research
Assistants on multiple NOAA-funded grants recently awarded to Dr. Scott
Sheridan and Dr. Cameron Lee. The ideal candidates should be broadly
interested in climate science, including the use of synoptic
climatological methods in various climate-related applications. These
positions offer a competitive stipend, health insurance and paid
tuition, along with funded travel opportunities to present research at
national conferences. These positions will begin in the Fall 2018 semester.

The research by Dr. Sheridan and Dr. Lee, in the Applied Synoptic
Climatology lab at Kent State University, encompasses a variety of
research, from climate change to bioclimatology and adaptation.  Kent
State University is located in Kent, Ohio (USA) and has been rated as
one of the top 100 public universities in the US, and is located in a
suburban setting close to Cleveland and adjacent to the Cuyahoga Valley
National Park and many other recreational opportunities. The Department
of Geography is among leading Geography departments in the country in
terms of publications per faculty member, and the department actively
integrates students into research and encourages their participation in
