Jordan Overton Wins 2017 OBEA Award

Jordan Overton, who is the head of student meteorologist broadcast efforts for the School of Meteorology and the newly elected OU SCAN president, has won an OBEA award. In December, he submitted a video reel composed of footage from 2017 that showcases his best moments on air with OU Nightly, which was entered into the statewide competition in the TV-Personality category. The Oklahoma Broadcast Education Association awarded him 2nd place at a ceremony in Tulsa on April 19, 2018.

Jordan has also worked for the School of Meteorology for the past three years as a Student Media Assistant and produces excellent content in videos and articles. Overton said, “I’m very grateful for the resources the SOM and Gaylord college have provided me. This award would not be possible without their support.”

He plans to graduate in May 2019 with a major in meteorology and a minor in broadcast meteorology and a minor in math. After graduation he hopes to pursue a career as an on-air meteorologist. He is from Skiatook, Oklahoma, and has had a passion for meteorology since he was in elementary school.

The School of Meteorology thanks Jordan for all his hard work, and is looking forward to all the great things to come for him in the coming years.

Congratulations Jordan!
