Dr. Kis earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, double-majoring in atmospheric & oceanic sciences and mathematics, and Master of Science and doctoral degrees in meteorology from the University of Oklahoma. Her research interests include investigating the environments in which nocturnal tornadoes form and using social science approaches to study the occupation of meteorology. She uses her time spent teaching to combat misconceptions of weather and climate, understand what majors expect of their meteorology educations and careers, and promote scientific writing and public speaking.
