- Understanding the dynamics of severe thunderstorms and tornadoes using phased array and rapid-scan radars
- Examining microphysical and dynamic processes in deep convection using polarimetric and rapid-scan radars
- High-resolution numerical simulations of supercells and tornadoes, including their interaction with complex terrain and buildings
- Assessment of the benefits and design tradeoffs of a future operational phased array radar network
- Radar simulation using advanced electromagnetic scattering calculations and atmospheric models
- Developing and fielding transformative radar technology for atmospheric science research
