An overview of the NSSL Multi-Radar Multi-Sensor quantitative precipitation estimation system

Dr. Jian Zhang

Dr. Zhang obtained her B.S. in Atmospheric Physics from the Peking University in 1984, M.S. in Atmospheric Science from the Chinese Academy of Meteorological Sciences in 1987, and Ph.D. in Meteorology from OU in 1999. She worked at CIMMS/OU in 1999-2009 and then joined NSSL as a research meteorologist. Her research interests are in radar meteorology and quantitative precipitation estimation. She received a Bronze Medal from the Department of Commerce in 2012 for the design and implementation of a multi-sensor precipitation estimation system and a Silver Medal in 2015 for the successful transition of the multi-radar multi-sensor QPE system into operations.
