Dr. Schumacher received his B.S. with majors in meteorology and humanities from Valparaiso University in 2001, and earned his M.S. (2003) and Ph.D. (2008) from Colorado State University. He spent 2008-2009 at NCAR as ASP postdoc. He has been assistant professor in the Department of Atmospheric Science at Colorado State University since 2011. He received NSF’s CAREER award in 2010 and AMS Editor's awards for Monthly Weather Review and Weather and Forecasting in 2015. His research interests include mesoscale meteorology, extreme precipitation, weather analysis, and numerical weather prediction.
