Connecting polar regions processes with midlatitude weather

Dr. Steven Cavallo
OU School of Meteorology

Dr. Cavallo received his M.S. (2006) and Ph.D. (2009) in atmospheric sciences from the University of Washington, studying under Dr. Gregory Hakim. His B.S. in meteorology (2003) is from the Florida State University. His research interests are in vortex dynamics, numerical weather prediction, and data assimilation. He was recipient of the AMS Macelwane Award (2004), an AMS undergraduate scholarship (2001), and an AMS graduate fellowship (2003). Dr. Cavallo worked closely with Drs. Chris Snyder and Chris Davis during his postdoctoral fellowship at NCAR to implement the Advanced Hurricane WRF model and was awarded an NSF Postdoctoral Fellowship in Polar Regions Research in 2010. He became Assistant Professor of the SoM and moved to Norman, OK in 2011.
