Predictability and data assimilation for severe weather and tropical cyclones

Dr. Fuqing Zhang

Dr. Zhang earned his M.S. (1994) and B.S. (1991) in Atmospheric Science from Nanjing University, and Ph.D. (2000) in Atmospheric Science from the North Carolina State University. In 2008, after holding postdoctoral and faculty positions at NCAR and Texas A&M University, he joined Department of Meteorology of Penn State University. His research interests cover areas of atmospheric dynamics, modeling and predictability, data assimilation, parameter estimation, ensemble forecasting, and regional climate studies. Dr. Zhang is recipient of the AMS Clarence Leroy Meisinger and Banner Miller Awards, and was elected an AMS Fellow in 2015.
