Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Amanda Novak

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Amanda Novak

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Amanda Novak! She is from North Andover, Massachusetts. Amanda’s relationship with meteorology wasn’t always “love.” Growing up, Amanda was afraid of thunderstorms. This is how she got accustomed to staring at the weather radar. This, in addition to a love for the environment and the subject of math, drew Amanda to meteorology!

Her meteorology career here in Norman has led to her getting involved in a variety of different organizations. Amanda has been a part of OWL and SCAN for four years, as she is currently serving her term as president of OU SCAN!

Amanda says the toughest part of college was finding the right time management skills, and that between the business of classwork and getting involved, it was a learning curve. She says the people make it worth it, though! She believes everyone within the department is extremely talented and passionate and it feels so amazing to be surrounded by so many great people.

After graduating this May, Amanda will be working at Science Application International Cooperation (SAIC) as part of their technical leadership developmental program!

Congratulations, Amanda! The School of Meteorology is excited to see all you do in the future!
