Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Andrea Gordon

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Andrea Gordon

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Andrea Gordon! She’s from Rosemount, Minnesota, and she became interested in meteorology while participating in downhill ski racing!

I was curious about how different weather conditions impacted snow conditions and affected our racing strategies for the course,” she said.

So she traveled all the way down to Norman! During her time in college, Andrea was a member of Student Affairs Committee (SAC), Oklahoma Weather Lab (OWL), Weather Friends, New Student Mentoring Program, and Student Ambassadors. She also was a member of the Convection, Chemistry, and Climate (CCC) Research Group led by Dr. Cameron Homeyer.

To her, the toughest part of college was the workload.

“Starting things early and finding a good balance definitely helped,” Andrea said.

But college is not all difficult times!

“My favorite part about OU is all the amazing people I have met and friendships I have made over the past 4 years,” she said.

After graduation in May, Andrea won’t be going far as she will be getting her Master’s degree here at OU!  She will continue to work with the Convection, Chemistry, and Climate Research Group studying overshooting convection.

Congratulations, Andrea! The School of Meteorology is excited to see all you do in the future!
