Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Isaiah Schick

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Isaiah Schick

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Isaiah Schick! He’s from La Crescent, Minnesota, and as long as he can remember, Isaiah has always wanted to be a meteorologist.

“I would always be the kid that would prefer watching The Weather Channel over cartoons. Eventually, I learned that I could make a career out of it and have been hooked ever since,” he said.

So he traveled all the way down to Norman! During his time in college, Isaiah was in the Pride of Oklahoma, a member of Student Affairs Committee (SAC), and University of Oklahoma Student Chapter of the American Meteorological Society & National Weather Association (SCAN). He would also volunteer as a weather friend as well!

To him, the toughest part of college was managing the workload.

“I overcame this by working on my time management skills,” Isaiah said. “Now, I write all of my tasks in a planner every day to help keep myself ahead.”

But college is not all difficult times!

“My favorite part about college was going to football, basketball, and baseball games pre-COVID,” he said.

After graduation in May, Isaiah will be searching for a job while attending graduate school.

Congratulations, Isaiah! The School of Meteorology is excited to see all you do in the future!
