Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Jeffrey Stevenson

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Jeffrey Stevenson

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Jeffrey Stevenson! He’s from Knoxville, Tennessee, and since he was young, Jeffrey has always had a passion for weather.

“After living in Texas during high school and experiencing the intense storms that can occur, I knew I wanted to study meteorology, especially in this part of the country” he said.

So he traveled all the way over to Norman! During his time in college, Jeffrey was a member of the SMART Radar team led by Dr. Biggerstaff. Being a part of the SMART Radar team, he was able to travel to Florida and Louisiana to study hurricanes as they made landfall!

To him, the toughest part of college was the workload. “Sometimes the workload can get pretty intense,” he said so Jeffrey learned “to always plan ahead and start things early.”

But college is not all difficult times!

“My favorite part of college was learning more about the things I love,” he said.

After graduation in May, Jeffrey won’t go far as he is attending grad school here at the University of Oklahoma! He will continue to research landfalling hurricanes with Dr. Biggerstaff.

Congratulations, Jeffrey! The School of Meteorology is excited to see all you do in the future!
