Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Kara Manning

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Kara Manning

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Kara Manning! Kara is from Massillon, Ohio and she is a dual major in Meteorology and GIS. She says her fascination from weather came straight from home, and maybe a little bit from the movies too!

“Growing up on one of the Great Lakes, I’ve always been fascinated by weather,” said Manning. “Before Twister came out, my favorite movie was Night of the Twisters. I remember when the Weather Channel showed only current weather, basically there were not any TV shows.”

Kara was involved in OWL and SCAN during her time here at OU, and she says her favorite part was meeting people like Mike Bettes and sitting in a mobile radar truck. In her opinion, the hardest part of the program was getting through Dynamics II.

After graduation, Kara plans to get a job that will utilize at least two of her three degrees and do something with her life that she will be happy with.

Congratulations Kara! The School of Meteorology cannot wait to see what you do!
