Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Teresa Deutchman

Senior Spotlight May 2021 – Teresa Deutchman

This year we are continuing our tradition of Senior Spotlights! For everyone, 2020 and 2021 have been challenging years, but we want to highlight our amazing seniors for preserving through these difficult times.

Meet Teresa Deutchman! She’s from Windom, Minnesota. Once she took a meteorology class in high school, Teresa found herself wanting to know the science behind the weather.

I became interested in meteorology through growing up on my family’s farm, especially since the weather impacted my family’s farming operation on a daily basis,” she said.

So she traveled all the way down to Norman! During her time in college, Teresa was a member of OWL during her freshman year. She also tutored middle school students on meteorology topics. These students participated in the Science Olympiad.

To her, the toughest part of college was moving to a place where she knew no one.

“It was intimidating coming to a large campus from a small high school.”

But college is not all difficult times!

“My favorite part of college was meeting new people,” she said. “I’m very thankful for all the friends and connections I’ve made during my time at OU.”

After graduation in May, Teresa will be working as an Intern Meteorologist for DTN in Burnsville, Minnesota. She hopes to eventually work as an agriculture meteorologist within DTN.

Congratulations, Teresa! The School of Meteorology is excited to see all you do in the future!
