Course Description:
This course completes the OU and SoM Capstone course requirement. With the advice of the instructor and your mentors, you will complete the research project proposed in METR 4911. Each group will write up their project in the form of a senior thesis, give oral presentations on their project during the semester, provide feedback on peer presentations and theses, and conclude the semester with a poster presentation open to all National Weather Center personnel.

Course Goals:
My goals for this course are to develop your understanding of and interest in research in the atmospheric sciences. Ultimately, you should leave the Capstone sequence with a detailed understanding of the research process and research culture in the atmospheric sciences.

Learning Outcomes:
Upon completion of the Capstone course sequence, I expect you to be able to:
• communicate scientific topics, methods, and results with others (both verbally and in writing)
• review and challenge the work of others based on sound arguments and evidence
• analyze datasets and identify the significance of your results

None required.

During lecture, I expect you to be respectful to everyone. Please silence your cell phones, limit personal
conversation, and take an active role in class. The use of cellular phones is never permitted. Laptops
may be used during group activities, but may never be used during presentations.
