Parametric amplification has become an area of interest for RF engineers in circumventing fundamental limitations like the Bode-Fano limit or the Chu limit. However, the theory of broad banding parametric amplifiers has yet to be directly applied to electrically small antennas. This work undergoes a literature review of broadband parametric amplifier design at RF and covers examples to illustrate the benefits and drawbacks of these topologies. Then, the theories and techniques are extended to electrically small antenna and candidate designs for on-aperature loading are presented.
