Climate Extremes and Modeling Group

Job description:

The Climate Extremes and Modeling Group at Louisiana State University (CEMG@LSU) is recruiting one PhD student to improve the modeling of tropical cyclones, with a target start date in January 2025.  This is a fully funded research assistant (RA) position with tuition and stipends covered. Focused on extreme weather events, our lab uses statistical methods and dynamical models to understand the effects of climate variability and climate change on extreme events, and the physical processes through which they are linked. ·         A master or bachelor degree in atmospheric sciences, geography, geophysics, or related fields

·         Prior research experience in climate data analysis and/or modeling that is demonstrated by publications, thesis projects, research project reports, etc.

·         Strong programming skills (Python, MATLAB, Fortran, R, or others)

·         Excellent skills in written and oral English. International applicants may have to provide evidence of English proficiency (i.e., IELTS ≥ 6.5 or TOEFL  ≥ 79) by the time of application
