The University of Hawaii Department of Atmospheric Sciences located in Honolulu, Hawaii has an opening for a research associate. The position is part of an initiative to improve the use of satellite data in numerical weather prediction that is funded by the Office of Naval Research. The position is funded at $75,000 annually for three years, plus benefits. There may be opportunity for extension thereafter. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in an environmental science, applied math or computer science. Candidates who have experience and interest in scientific programing, AI, data assimilation, or numerical weather prediction are especially encouraged to apply. Given the source of funding applicants with US citizenship will be given preference.
