Scientific Programmer for MAXIMUS

Essential Job Duties:
•Solid understanding of basic meteorology
•Short-term forecasting experience, especially of snow
•Experience with interpreting satellite imagery
•Basic knowledge of satellite remote sensing (active and passive)
•Experience interpreting and applying weather model output
•Assist in the production of SOPs and weekly presentations
•Occasionally attend professional conferences and present posters
•Ability to meet daily hard deadlines to ensure product distribution
•Ability to occasionally work weekends and holidays
•Work at other NOAA facilities may be required periodically

Additional Responsibilities:
•GIS experience using ArcMap
•Collaborate with U.S. science research teams and international partners
•Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of a variety of factors.
•Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action.
•Builds productive internal/external working relationships.

Education and Experience Requirements:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology or related discipline and 2 years of related work experience; or an advanced degree without experience; or equivalent work experience
