Jordan Christian Gives Invited Talk at North American Drought Monitor Forum

Jordan Christian, a Ph.D. student on Associate Director Jeff Basara’s CHEW-e team, was recently invited to present at the North American Drought Monitor (NADM) forum in Calgary, Canada. Drought experts across the United States, Canada, and Mexico came together to integrate new research and developments to progress the science of drought monitoring, both locally and internationally.

Christian was among few Ph.D. students invited to the forum, and the only Ph.D. student to give a presentation.

Christian won 1st place in the 32nd Conference on Hydrology for his presentation at the American Meteorological Society meeting earlier this year. Following this award-winning presentation entitled “Analysis of Flash Drought Occurrence Across the United States Using the North American Regional Reanalysis”, Christian presented research entitled “Flash Drought Identification” at the NADM Forum to introduce a new methodology for flash drought identification.
