Two Meteorology Students Semifinalists in Broadcast Talent Competition

Meteorology majors and broadcast meteorology minors Marisa Nuzzo and Jordan Overton have been selected as semifinalists in the South Central Broadcasting Society talent reel competition! Nuzzo also advanced to be one of four finalists in the competition.

Both Overton and Nuzzo appear on OU Nightly as weather anchors and have active leadership roles within the organization. Overton is the Senior Weather Producer and Nuzzo is the Senior Web Producer. The OU Nightly faculty advisors selected them and submitted their on-air talent reels on behalf of the University.

Each student edited their own talent reels and were honored for their work at the South Central Broadcasting Society conference in Houston earlier this year.

Website manager Shelby Hill spoke with Overton and Nuzzo (who also serve as student media assistants for the School) about this award. Nuzzo said, “It is amazing to have my work seen by people regionally, and a huge honor to represent both Gaylord College and the School of Meteorology as a broadcast meteorology student!”

Overton added, “It’s an honor to be awarded a second time for the 2017-2018 semester. I’m extremely grateful to the School of Meteorology and Gaylord College of Journalism for their support!”

Congratulations to Jordan and Marisa for this impressive accomplishment!
